Eat More Nuts, plus 5 Other Foods to Improve Your Sex Life

Walnuts, cashews, almonds, and hazelnuts are just a handful of the most popular nuts in the U.S., but as it turns out, Americans aren't eating nearly enough of them. In fact, according to a 27-year-long study analyzing the world's diet, inadequate consumption of nuts and seeds is the second most important risk factor for deaths related to diet in the U.S.

During the 14-week study, two groups of men ate the same Western-style diet, but one of the groups added 60 grams, or about two handfuls, of nuts to their daily food intake. Researchers found improved sperm quality in the group who consumed nuts. That group also reported better orgasms and increased sexual desire.

One benefit of nuts for sexual function is that they contain numerous antioxidants, along with a hefty dose of L. arginine, which promotes the production of nitric oxide.
